Over 1400 athletes from 63 countries are competing in this world competition. I am a member of the California Striders Track Club and we have over 30 athletes from our team competing. So far I have won 3 bronze medals -javelin, dicus, and shot put. I have 2 more events, hammer (thursday) and weight throw (friday). Despite an ailing shoulder I am optimistic about getting a medal in the hammer and weight throw. California Striders President- Brenda Matthews upset the current world champion in the women 60 meters with a time of 9.04. My roommate Agnes Green (women 55) competing in her 1st world championship, won 2 silver medals- javelin and shot put.

I had an amazing 2009 track and field season. Turning 60 was excting also. I finsihed #1 in the U.S. (W-60) in the shot , discus, hammer, 12 lb.16lb.,25lb. weight throw, weight pentathlon, ultra weight pentathlon. Also finished #1 in the shot and 16lb. weight indoors in the W-55 age group. Breaking the American record in the 12lb. (by 12ft) and 25lb.(by 7ft) weight throw indoors and outdoors, the weight pentathlon( by 400 points) , and scoring over 6000 points in the ultra weight pentathlon was amazing. My next big meet will be the World Masters Championship in Kamloops, Canada in March 2010.
